Gichuka PB comes from the Nyeri county in Kenya, a region renowned for its significant contribution to Kenya’s coffee production. This peaberry is on the most delicious and interesting coffees from Kenya we have tasted in a long time. It’s classic blackcurrant profile is combined with a very sugary sweetness and finished of with a unique and complex aftertaste reminiscent of tonka beans.
The natural features of mountainous Central Kenya, where Nyeri lies creates an ideal environment for coffee cultivation. The plants thrive on rich, red volcanic soils, a bountiful supply of rainfall, and gentle yet warm temperatures. All of which are essential elements for producing high-quality coffee.
We transitioned to one optimized roast profile to bring out the best each coffee has to offer. We have noticed that our filter and espresso profiles are slowly moving towards each other and that our preferred profiles for both filter and espresso brew methods are almost the same lately. Not much will change except that there is just one roast per coffee now, similar to our past filter roasts and a touch lighter than our past espresso roasts. This change will give you cleaner, more balanced espresso’s with high clarity and tons of flavor. Reach out if you have any questions about this transition.
