Iloma PB
Iloma PB
Iloma PB is our first ever coffee from Tanzania and has a truly unique flavor profile. It’s super juicy with lot’s of yellow fruit and some berries. Besides that there is an incredible umami element in the cup profile that adds to its complexity. It reminds us of the slightly tropical, slightly herbal taste profile of fig leaf.
Iloma is one of the earliest adopters of fully centralised washed processing in the Songwe region, setting the standard for quality. The cooperative has become one of the most successful in the area, currently supporting around 400 members who deliver approximately 2,660 bags annually. We sourced this through Nordic Approach and hope to continue working with Tanzanian coffees for many years to come.
Iloma Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Society (AMCOS) operates in the Mbozi District of the Songwe Region, Tanzania, at an altitude of around 1830 meters above sea level. The trees are grown on clay loam soils at high altitude, which is great for the production of high quality, complex coffees.
The region experiences a flowering period from September to October, followed by the main harvest season from June to August. Farmers primarily grow Compact, a local hybrid widely distributed from the quality institute and some of Bourbon-derived varieties, including N 39 and KP432.
