Los Rodriguez
Los Rodriguez
This natural processed Caturra from the Los Rodriguez family farm, is the first of three Bolivian coffees that we will be releasing this year. When we got the first samples of this origin, we were immediately in love with the coffees from Los Rodriguez. What we especially love in this lot is its nectar-like mouthfeel and juicy, tropical flavours.
Caranavi, known as the coffee capital of Bolivia, lies within the forested Yungas region, characterized by fertile soil and a distinctive dual climate, perfect for growing coffee. Most farmers maintain their land as untouched forest, dedicating only a portion to coffee planting.
The Rodriguez family established their Buena Vista wet mill in 2001 and began exporting coffee. Their dedication to sustainability earned them the SCA Sustainability Award. The Rodriguez family focuses on innovative agronomy, exploring grafting methods and testing over 50 coffee varieties. Notable successes include grafting java and geisha varieties onto robusta rootstocks, achieving high yields in both field performance and cup quality.
After harvest this coffee is processed at their wet mill, dried on raised beds, and finished in mechanical dryers simulating a day-night cycle.
