Our second Kenya of the season comes from the Ndiaini factory in Nyeri. This is another very sweetness forward coffee that has strong notes of dark honey and blackcurrant with a bright citric acidity.
SL28 and SL34; cultivars released by Scott Laboratories in the 1930s, are well know for their high cup quality.Their deep root systems also enable the trees to tap the limited water resources and thrive without irrigation. Batian en Ruiru 11 however are resistant to both coffee berry disease and leaf rust, which can be devestating to a producer’s crop. The combination of these varieties strikes a good balance between quality, production yield and disease-restistance, offering the highest possible stability in production and income.
